Oud-minister Winnie Sorgdrager is de nieuwe juryvoorzitter van de Piket Kunstprijzen in 2020. Sorgdrager neemt het stokje over van Marjolein de Jong, voormalig cultuurwethouder in Den Haag. Daarnaast verwelkomt de stichting twee nieuwe juryleden: programmeur John de Weerd (Zaal 3 en de Parade) en beeldend kunstenaar Joncquil de Vries. Jordan Herregraven, last year’s winner in the Painting category, confesses he was a little nervous before the jury members’ visit. “The nomination came as a surprise,” he says. “It was really exciting. The support and exposure that went with the nomination was inspiring and very valuable.” Winning was a surprise as well. “I had a good feeling but hadn’t really prepared a speech, and being on stage, having to say something is pretty nerve wracking, so I kept it short and sweet. But, yes, it was a great moment.”
Jordan Herregraven, die vorig jaar de winnaar was van de Piket Kunstprijzen in de categorie Schilderkunst, biecht op dat hij wel een beetje zenuwachtig was toen de jury op bezoek kwam. “De nominatie was een verrassing,” zegt hij. “Het was echt spannend. De steun en de aandacht rond de nominatie was inspirerend en heel waardevol.” Winnen was ook een verrassing. “Ik had een goed gevoel, maar ik had niet echt een speech voorbereid, en op het toneel te staan en dan iets te moeten zeggen, is nogal zenuwslopend. Dus ik heb het kort en krachtig gehouden. Maar, ja, het was een geweldig moment.”
Oud-genomineerden Rutkay Özpinar en Antonin Rioche in de categorie Dans van de Piket Kunstprijzen hebben meegewerkt aan een experiment van Korzo, Museum Beelden aan Zee en studio Gerrit Schreurs. Dat resulteerde in een dansfilm met spectaculaire improvisaties van Rutkay en Antonin.
